Skagit Heights Dahlia Farm

We would like you to know a little about us and how we got started.                               

As a child Genevee was fascinated by a cactus dahlia her mother

grew in her garden. The memory stayed with her from childhood.

When she married and had a home of her own, she begged 5 varieties off her

sister-in-laws’s mother. That started a 50 year romance with

growing dahlias.

What started as a hobby took root and grew.  Eugene, her husband

got interested after his retirement and they joined forces and turned

it into a business in 1983 growing 4 acres.  That lasted until his

death in 1993.  Since then the acreage has been reduced to 2 acres. 

 In 2007 their daughter, Marcella has joined her mother as a full

partner. Marcella has memories of running through the fields as a

child and playing amongst them and getting stung by bees, being

allergic and going to the emergency room. As far back as she can

remember, there were always dahlias blooming.

Growing up with them she has also had a love for them.

 

Now in 2007 Genevee and Marcella have big plans to add more

varieties and more acreage.  We also will be hybridizing and

creating our own.
